Ashkirk is a small rural village in the Borders region of Scotland situated south of Selkirk and north of Hawick, approximately one hour’s drive from Edinburgh. The village is ideally located as a central base for touring the border towns. The tranquil village has a garage, The Smiddy Restaurant and Bar and Hazelknowe Restaurant, and scenic views of the Border hills; it is a popular location for sight-seeing, cycling, fishing and nature-watching with a variety of plants, birds and animals and is situated on both a walking and riding route. Attractions in Ashkirk include the 18-hole Woll golf course, the Syntons Mains driving range and Ian Stark Equestrian Centre.
Ashkirk School closed in 1992 and has been recently refurbished. The 'Auld Skuil' now offers accommodation for up to 4 guests.
The Auld Skuil offers its own entrance on the groundfloor into the entrance hall with storage, a spacious lounge, bathroom, dining area and a bedroom with twin sleeping arrangements. A sprial staircase leads up to a bright airy mezzanine level with a king size double bed and terrific views of the surrounding countryside.
